Well the students are quickly approaching the end of their school year, which will be the beginning of December, so there is lots of studying and revising going on at the Jubilee School. They are busy completing important lessons so that they can make the grade and be promoted onto the next class.
There is also a great deal of construction activity too. The Jubilee School had the privilege of hosting some friends of Fr. Symon's who visited from Austria in July, and apparently made a favorable impression. This was their second visit after they were introduced to Fr. Symon in February 2011, by his longtime friend, Emil Isele, who is also from Austria. There was a very interested businessman named Mr. Heini, and his associate, Sylvia, among the visitors, who appreciated the hard work the students and teachers were engaged in, as well as the flourishing campus and facilities that have been built thus far. Mr. Heini has been fundraising from well-wishers in Austria and helping with projects in Africa, particularly Tanzania, for many years. This Austrian gentleman asked Fr. Symon for a list of building priorities that Fr. Symon would like to see in the next construction phase and after their communication via e-mails and telephone conversations, Fr.Symon provided a list. Well, not long thereafter, he contacted Fr. Symon and shared the wonderful news that he too would like to help with the efforts, and made a very generous contribution to the Jubilee School to get some of the priorities taken care of. Those key concerns that we have been striving to arrange for, include the building of both Boys and Girls Night Toilets and Showers, which means two significant buildings constructed and attached to the Dormitories. We have been coping with the temporary showers for awhile, but this news is fantastic. Also, the same generous Donor thought it would be a good idea to build the 3rd Teacher's House, and thus complete the Teacher Housing needs that we originally established. How kind and thoughtful he is!
Fr. Symon didn't waste any time, and made plans to begin the new construction as soon as the two new dormitories were complete. The second Boys Dormitory was to have the students move in within the last month, so we are on our way! In addition to the Shower Facilities and Third Teacher's House, Mr. Heini also suggested that there be some sort of Facility established, that will be able to teach Life Skills, particularly to the Girls (who may return to their villages and who are committed to arranged early marriages) once their academic preparation is complete at the end of the 8th grade. He engaged Fr. Symon to purchase three building lots on his behalf, which are located just at the front of the Jubilee Campus property, in anticipation of the possibility of building a Post Graduate Life Skills Learning Center. That sounds like terrific forethought and another wonderful idea.
We cannot begin to thank our new Austrian Friends and Donors to the Jubilee School for their magnificent gifts...so we will allow the actions of the children to express, in their genuine and enthusiastic ways, how meaningful their generosity is to all of us. The Students and their Parents will truly appreciate the magnanimity of our Austrian Friends when they realize that because of their kindness, those new facilities will be ready sometime in the beginning of the next school year, to bring them comfort and convenience that they will never take for granted. A HUGE Asante Sana to our new Austrian Friends and Benefactors!
