I'll grant you that there are some things to report...progress on students and construction alike...but this blogger has a tendency to leave well enough alone while there are other demands nipping at her heels...and since I haven't heard from anyone inquiring about the status of things at the Jubilee School...I'm afraid I've left it for too long! Please do 'contact us' with a question or two if you do check in and want an update. Just a tip...I will reply if you are, "out there, wondering."
So...here we are...July 2010! Fr. Symon is back in Narok busily managing all that is going on at the Jubilee School and conferring with Gideon, the appointed Head Teacher during Father's absence. I know last you heard [from moi] Fr. Symon was embracing the Second Official School Year and meeting with the 134 students fully enrolled in Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6. Hopefully you have noted in our photo galleries the many students now fully residing in the beautiful dormitories on campus...may I mention the Burke Girls Dormitory and the Cullinan Boys Dormitory that are fully operational. Both Dorms have been donated (and thus named) in honor of some wonderful friends from Avon, New York...Mary Ellen and Albert Burke, both deceased and honored by their children through their funding of a dorm; and Tim and Marianne Cullinan: Tim passed away in 2000 and Marianne is the ever engaged mother of the 5 Cullinan 'Boys' and the Grandmother of Tim's and her 14 grandchildren; they are also honored by their sons for their commitment to education, in this most wonderful [physical] tribute.
The new Dining/Activity Hall is nearly complete, as well as a Teacher's House; both facilities have been donated by other friends in honor of very special remembrances..which I will fill you in on next time..once photos of the completed projects can be published.
Fr. Symon tells me that the children and their parents continue to take pride in their Jubilee School community. The students are now studying for their term exams; which dates are set and established by the local governmental school districts and whose syllabus the school must abide by, and that the children will be taking soon. Thereafter, they will return home for a month's break before coming back and studying throughout the 3rd and last term of the school year.
Fr. Symon is delighted with all that is happening at the Jubilee School and we are all so grateful for the continued and thoughtful consideration you are so kindly giving his community and our friends in Kenya. Thank you so very, very much for your support.
